Burma Banks and Mergui Archipelago Liveaboard scuba diving and sailing trips
This is one of the last untouched places left and has only been open for a few years. With more than 800 islands the Burma Banks and Mergui Archipelago lie approximately 180 km northwest of the Similan Islands. In the Archipelago, there are four different types of diving environments - shallow, inshore fringing island reefs, offshore fringing reefs and banks which rise up from depths of over 300 metres. .............................................................................................................................................................
This, of course, means there are many different kinds of dive sites in this area with a variety of conditions and a tremendous amount of marine life. Lush soft coral gardens, endless fields of sea anemones, gently sloping hard coral reefs, current exposed submerged pinnacles and banks, steep walls, caves and caverns, boulders and lime stone, it’s all there. Fish and invertebrate life is richer than in the Thai part of the AndamanSea and divers coming to this area will really get the feeling of diving somewhere special and to be away from the hectic of day to day life.
In December 2005 and January 2006 Worldwide Dive and Sail ventured into the waters of Burma. Our trips proved to be a great success and together with our customers we enjoyed these explorations to new locations.
However, these trips are a little more difficult to organize due to the restrictions imposed by the Burmese government and the expenses of visas and sailing permits. .............................................................................................................................................................
We are still enjoy to offer trips to the Burma Banks and the Mergui Archipelago but only on a charter basis.
