Maldives liveaboard diving in Central Itinerary Male
This time I left the main office in Thailand to go and see how the diving in the Maldives. I arrived a day before the guests and had time to get to know the crew. The next day our small group of guests arrived from the USA, Canada and Germany for our 10-night Central Itinerary through Ari Atoll to Laamu Atoll. This was to be an extra-special trip as we welcomed divers who are deaf and hard of hearing but also hearing divers keen to learn sign-language and have some diving fun! The first afternoon was spent relaxing aboard the S/Y Maldives Siren, once everyone had set up their dive equipment we went off for an afternoon snorkel; starting the trip well by seeing several black tip reef sharks and a variety of reef fish. In the evening Marie, our resident marine biologist, gave a fantastic presentation about the corals and reefs of the Maldives. For me this was a great introduction to diving in the Maldives and all felt well prepared for the next days of diving.

Diving Maldives Huvadhoo Atoll
For our final “Maldives Southern” itinerary, touring around Gaafu Atoll for the 2012 season, we had a select number of ten guests join the S/Y Maldives Siren escorted by Ethan Gordon for a photography workshop. The divers hailed from the United States, South Africa, Australia and our Honeymooners Stuart and Becky from the UK, via Thailand. Once everyone was onboard, we pulled anchor and made our way east, to a deserted island, close to the centre of the atoll. There was still an hour of sunlight, so some of the guests chose to go for a quick, cooling swim and feel the powdery Maldivian sand between their toes for the first time. Everyone enjoyed the first sunset of the trip that evening.

The Maldives diving Central and Southern itinerary
For our latest Maldives liveaboard safari we followed our Central and Southern itinerary, starting off in the nation’s capital of Male and ending ten days later in Huvadhoo Atoll, some five hundred miles to the south. The first afternoon we welcomed our fourteen guests from Dive Connection in Colorodao US, aboard the S/Y Maldives Siren. As we made the welcome briefings the anchor was lifted and we made a short trip out of the lagoon to take our night anchorage outside Krumba Island; taking advantage of the crystal clear warm blue waters for a spot of snorkelling to ease the guests into the trip.

Liveaboard diving in Maldives Mola-Mola in the Southern Maldives
Our latest trip in the Maldives taking the “Southern” itinerary had guests flying into Kaadedhop airport in “Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll”, returning ten days later, having explored the largest atoll in the archipelago. Joining the S/Y Maldives Siren were fourteen guests representing the nations of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Brazil, UK and Sweden; all looking forward to this “Shark School” charter hosted by Dr Erich Ritter. After welcoming the guests aboard and completing the usual briefings the Maldives Siren lifted anchor and headed east, inside the atoll to a nearby uninhabited island for the guests to enjoy the last hour of sun and a swim from the white sand beach.

Luxury Liveaboard S/Y Maldives Siren - South Male Atoll
This time around the Maldives Siren welcomed aboard a group of fifteen Austrian divers from the Mc Dive club. Starting out from Male, we we’re following the “Central and southern itinerary”, cruising south through seven Atolls, finishing up in Gaafu Atoll just fifteen Km north from the equator. After a long flight the guests enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the boat; briefings completed we moved out of Hule Male Lagoon and made anchor for the night outside of Krumba island.
