    India Diving Itineraries

    Andaman Islands

February to May - 8 and 9 nights

The Oriental Siren departs from Port Blair on an 8 or 9 night diving adventure. The lack of commercial fishing around the Andaman Islands, results in unusually abundant fish populations, including bumphead parrotfish, Napoleon wrasse, dogtooth tuna and barracuda. We also find species endemic to the area such as the Andaman sweetlips and damsel fish. Visiting Barren island, unlike the name would suggest, rewards divers with pristine soft corals, and it is here we are most likely to see manta rays, whilst at the Passage it is common to see mobula rays and groupers. Despite recent concerns over coral bleaching, due to spikes in water temperature, the reefs of the Andaman Islands remain healthy and support diverse marine life.

Diving Thailand and Burma by Luxury Liveaboard

OS-external_previewLiveaboard diving trips to Phi Phi, Similans and Mergui Archipelago
    Liveaboard: S/Y Oriental Siren

Diving in Thailand is as popular as ever and our 10 night liveaboard dive safaris take you the best of the west coast of Thailand and into Burma. Dive sites range from sloping reefs and rocky outcropping, huge granite boulders covered with soft corals and shallow coral gardens. It's this variety that attracts the abundant marine life that make diving here so appealing. Several species of shark can still be found patrolling the waters of Phi Phi and the Similans, and manta rays are a common sight, whilst whale sharks make an occasional appearance. There are plenty of smaller creatures too and divers will discover several types of anemone fish on each dive, different species of ghost pipefish and seahorses as well as a fantastic array of molluscs. Although most of the diving locations in the region are now well known there are plenty of new dive sites waiting to be discovered.

"It was our first experience of Worldwide Dive and Sail and we were very impressed by the high standards of operation. The cruise director, the crew and their organisation made diving a real pleasure. People often say that a crew was 'the best', but in twelve years of going on liveaboards we have to say that we have never had a crew, operation and approach as good as this. It was the attention to detail in everything that was done that made the difference" - Andrew (and Sue) Merrifield, UK, Best of Thailand, January 2011.

    Thailand and Burma Diving Itineraries

Best of Thailand - Phi Phi, Hin Daeng, Similans and Richelieu Rock

    November-February - 10 nights
Departing from the island of Phuket the Oriental Siren takes you first eastwards to the islands of Phi Phi and the sites of the south Andaman Sea. We spend 1-3 days here before travelling back northwards to visit the Similan and Surin Islands and the offshore pinnacle of Richelieu Rock. Mantas are a likely event at Koh Bon in the Similans, whereas you can expect to leopard and black tip sharks in Phi Phi and Koh Taichai. Currents from the Malacca Strait bring the nutrients that attract whale sharks to the area of Hin Daeng- however diving here is dependnnt on favourable weather conditions as rough seas are often likely. Moray eels, angel fish, anemone fish, pipefish and barracuda are amongst some of the fascinating marine species to be found here.

    Similans and the Mergui Archipelago

November - February - 10 nights - Available on special request
Departing also from Phuket, the Oriental Siren will make her way overnight directly to the Similan Islands. We spend 1-2 days diving here, exploring the remote reefs of Koh Bon and Koh Tachai before heading northwards for a days diving at Richelieu Rock. - the famous pinnacle! After sampling the delights of the Similans its time to head into Burmese waters. There are a vast number of sites to choose from and many new ones yet to be discovered. With several islands and out-croppings being so far off shore the dive sites selected will be based on the weather conditions. We expect to dive the Three Islets, Black Rock to the far north and plenty more in between. Nurse sharks, Tiger tail seahorses, ghost pipefish and mating Pharaoh cuttlefish are amongst the highlights for the trip.

    Philippines Dive Itineraries

    South Visayas from Mactan

    divesites_btnYear round - 10 nights
The Visayas region is home to some of the best diving in the Philippines, with its wide diversity of marine life, steep coral covered walls, gentle sloping reefs and muck diving hotspots. During the tour we visit and dive the islands of Cebu, Cabilao, Panglao, Balicasag, Sumilon and Pescador. The trip offers not only fantastic macro and the chance to see schooling fish, but also the possibility of some larger pelagics too as the shy thresher sharks come in to feed on schools of sardines. Whale sharks may also be seen here during August and September.

    Southern Leyte from Mactan

    March to May - 7day 6 nights
divesites_btnSogod Bay is world famous for sightings of whale sharks. These enormous filter feeders arrive here each year to feed on the swarms of plankton that bloom in the warm shallow waters. The area is perfect for both scuba diving and snorkelling but its not just the Whale sharks that people come to see. The reefs around the bays of Southern Leyte & Limasawa Island provide havens for numerous fish species, whilst beneath the piers of Padre Burgos & Limasawa are a whole host of weird and wonderful creatures - just take care not to bump into the big one with the white spots!

Batangas & Coron, via Apo Reef from Batangas or Busuanga

November to February - 10 nights
divesites_btnApo Reef, a UNESCO world heritage site, is considered by many to be among the best diving in the Philippines. The whole North East side of the reef consists of drop off's and overhangs where Whitetip and Grey Reef Sharks, turtles, barracuda and shoals of snapper are common. The Japanese World War II wrecks around Busuanga Island, particularly in Coron Bay, have been one of Philippine diving's best kept secrets. Twelve wrecks have so far been located in diveable depths and we shall dive many of them. The Batangas region is known for the many numerous smaller creatures that can be found along the sloping reefs and soft coral covered walls. It is here you will find many new and often unidentified species of nudibranchs, along with ghost pipefish, pipehorses, seahorses, octopus and frog fish.

Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park from Mactan or Puerto Princessa

    March to June - 7 nights / 13 nights
divesites_btnProclaimed as a National Marine Park on 11/08/1988 and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993, in recognition of its outstanding universal value in terms of marine life species diversity and richness. 182km South East of Puerto Princessa on Palawan Island, the Tubbataha Reef in the Sulu Sea offers some truly amazing diving only accesible by liveaboard. These reefs consist of vertical walls or near drop off's rising out of great depths. The shallow reef tops are teeming with local reef fish; in many places stingrays, spiny lobsters, immature manta rays, turtles, leopard Sharks and guitar Sharks are common. The walls are covered in huge barrel sponges, gorgonian sea fans, soft corals, hydroids and black corals. In deeper water, shoals of angelfish, butterfly fish, pennant fish, rainbow runners, Moorish Idols, fusiliers, jacks, snappers and sweetlips follow you around. Large trevally, tuna and barracuda as well as grey reef sharks and whitetip sharks patrol. Giant manta rays and eagle rays fly overhead and turtles and groupers, both large and small, pass by.
